John A. Scarbrough, age 40 of Opelika, was born on August 15, 1973 in Opelika and passed away on July 14, 2014 at EAMC Lanier in Valley. He was a Sergeant with the Chambers County Sheriffs Department and conducted work detail. He was also a member of the Beulah Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Jo Hammock. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Heather T. Scarbrough; daughter, Kristen Scarbrough; parents, Jim and Shirley Scarbrough; brother, Jason Scarbrough (Julie); nephew, Austin Scarbrough; niece, Arianna Scarbrough; nephews, Richard and Justin Hammock; mother and father-in-law, Gloria Jennings (Mike); and father-in-law, Tommy Tucker. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
