Johnnie D. Spraggins Sr., of Opelika, was born on October 10, 1931 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama and passed away at his home on May 25, 2015. He was 83 years old. He was preceded in death by his eight siblings and his parents, John and Eldoni Spraggins. Mr. Spraggins is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean McCormick Spraggins; his sons, Johnnie D. Spraggins, Jr. and Audie Spraggins (Dana); daughter, Kathy Wheeles (Donny);grandchildren, Joshua Spraggins, Amy Buck, Jada Spraggins, Traci Beyer, Kelli Capps, Jonathan Spraggins, and Aaron Spraggins; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Floyce Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Graveside funeral service will be on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:30 CST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
