Karen Diann Thompson Allen, 62, of Opelika AL passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023
in Valley AL surrounded by family. She was born on October 6, 1961 in Dadeville AL to Floyd
Thompson and Mary Gillen Thompson.
She accepted Christ on February 25,1980 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dadeville, AL. She
always prayed for her family. And even though she was so sick her faith never wavered.
Karen loved her family and was so proud to be a Nana. She had pictures proudly displayed for
everyone to see. Family was everything to her and she didn't miss an opportunity to pray for
them.
Her hobbies throughout her life were Alabama football, Nascar racing, anything to do with Jeff
Gordon, talking on the CB radio, puzzles, getting her nails done and whatever her dog Logan
wanted to do.
Karen was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Herman Thompson, nephew Chris
Wright and brother in laws Larry Merritt and Barney Bass. She is survived by her son Johnny
(Courtney) Pitts. Grandchildren Lucas (Ashley), Parker, Wyatt, and Lily. Great Grandson Dean.
Sisters Tommie (Jerry) Dakins, Margaret Bass. Brother Kenneth (Kenny) Thompson. Nieces
Tina Wright, Mary (Don) Rudd, Donna (Bruce) Haman, Bonnie (Wayne) Wilkerson, Sarah (Joey)
Clark, Bobbie Litsey, Maggie (Derek) Bice, Peggy (Ray) Story, BJ (Whitney) Bass, Curtis
(Margarite) Bass and Kimberly Caylor. Several great nieces and nephews. Special friend Scott
Woodall. And her beloved dog Logan.
A memorial service will be held at West End Baptist Church at 2809 55th St, Valley, AL on
Friday, November 17 at 1:00 pm CST (2:00 EST), preceded by visitation at 12:00 pm CST (1:00 EST)Immediately following
the service, the family will gather for a meal provided by the church. Flowers are welcomed or
contributions to the Spencer Cancer Center or Lee County Humane Society in her honor.
Frederick-Dean Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
