Mrs. Karla Choron, 59, of Opelika, was born on June 29, 1954, in Newton, Iowa to the late Conrad and Sarah Van Gilder (formerly Sarah Jackson Van Gilder of Auburn). Karla worked at AuburnBank for many years prior to her marriage to Randy Choron in 1996. Together, they opened Sarajays Restaurant in Lanett, AL and in 1998 they opened Sarajays She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Randy; her step-children, Chad Choron, Amy Choron, and Justin Choron, all of Opelika; her sister, Martha Cunningham of Opelika; numerous grandchildren; two great grandchildren; an aunt of Newton, Iowa; and multiple cousins. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Frederick- Dean Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Groce officiating. Interment will follow in Auburn Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the parlor at Flowers will be accepted or donations to the EAMC Foundation/Cancer Center.
