With the sadness of farewell we announce the passing of LaMerle Anderson on June 5, 2025 at the age of 97 after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she was cherished by all who knew her. Originally from Roanoke, Alabama, she spent the majority of her life in Opelika which she considered home.
LaMerle was a wonderful mother and always stayed close to extended family. She was an avid gardener and kept a beautiful yard. She loved to cook and entertain friends and family. She was an accomplished bridge player and she loved to dance. She traveled extensively, including many cruises, with Jim her husband of 68 years.
Proceeding her in death are her husband Jim Anderson, son Bert Anderson, grandson David Norrell, and great-grandson Max Norrell. Surviving are her son Bill Anderson and his wife Lynn Anderson of Houston, Texas; daughter Nan Anderson Cooper and her husband Curtis Cooper of Black Mountain, North Carolina; Grandchildren Laura Edwards, Andy Norrell (Sarah), Stephen Anderson, and Beth Anderson Kelso (Cody); Great grandchildren Hailey Edwards, Anderson Norrell, and Baney Norrell; Two sisters Faye Morgan, and June McEachern (Byron), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held June 27 at 1:00 at First Presbyterian Church, of which she was a devoted and lifetime member.
