Leon Thomas Shaddix, 94, of Auburn, Alabama died June 7, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. He was born on November 2, 1922 in Talladega County to the late Rufus Wilson Shaddix and Fannie Geneva Carpenter Shaddix.
Leon was the last remaining member of his immediate family which included brothers, Graham, Walter, Lewis, Rufus and John as well as his sisters, Fannie Mae and Annie Sue. He was a truck driver for Floyd and Beasley, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. Leon was a proud United States Army Veteran having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Leota Pope Shaddix and Lucy Wheeler Darrah Shaddix.
He is survived by his step-children and their spouses, James Robert Darrah (Karen), Sally Darrah King (Royal), Ellen Darrah Strickland (Lew), and Margaret Darrah Smith (Bob); 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, as well as several very special nieces.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama on June 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Calvin Havens officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
