Obituary

Linda Grace Curtis Blair 1953-2022 Linda Grace Curtis Blair passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2022, at the age of sixty-nine years surrounded by her family. She was born on May 26, 1953, in Dothan, AL. Her parents were the late James Benjamin Curtis and Nettie Grace Fortner Curtis. Linda was married to the love of her life, James Theodore Blair. They married on November 18, 1978, in Alexander City, AL. She is survived by her son, Nicholas Aaron (Leah) Blair of Auburn, AL and daughter Lauren Grace Blair (Marcus) Hood of Chelsea, AL. Her grandchildren are Carter James Blair, Daphne Ruth Blair, Solomon Aaron Blair, Macy Grace Hood, and Hannah Logan Hood. Her siblings are James Fortner (Bronda) Curtis, Joseph Benjamin (Reba) Curtis, the late William Anthony Curtis who is survived by his wife Debbie, and the late Frank Davis Curtis who is survived by his wife Phyllis. Linda was foremost a woman of faith. She radiated the love of Christ Jesus in everything she did. Growing up in Montgomery as the only sister to four brothers, she became the woman of her family at the age of 16 when her mother tragically died. She loved all of her brothers dearly. After graduating college from Troy University, she became a devoted wife to James, building a storied life of service, travel, music, parenting, friendship and laughter. Their marriage of 43 years will be a shining example for future generations. Linda created a legacy of church membership, especially through the music and children's ministries at Faith Temple in Alexander City. At Faith Temple, she met lifelong friends and mentors, and faithfully served for 40 years. After moving with James to Auburn in 2014, she became active in the Church of the Highlands, building new friendships and impacting others as a small group leader. Perhaps her proudest moments came as a loving mother and friend to her children, and she cherished her role as "Mimi" to her grandchildren. Her favorite times were spent planning special holiday games, skits, activities, and scavenger hunts, creating warm memories for her family. Finally, she was a special person to her friends, willing to lend a listening ear, a prayer, a meal, or even a night's stay for those in need. Linda retired in 2009 after 25 years as a Spanish teacher at Dadeville High School in Dadeville, AL. As with everything she did, she brought a grace and tenderness to teaching that positively impacted many of her students and colleagues. Friends and family are invited to a public visitation to be held on Thursday June 30, 2022 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Fredrick-Dean Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held the following morning. The Celebration of Life Service will be at the Church of the Highlands East Campus in Auburn on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00AM for all friends and family that wish to honor Linda's life together. Flowers will be received at Fredrick-Dean Funeral home at 1801 Fredrick Road, Opelika, AL. If preferred, donations can be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in lieu of flowers. https://cholangiocarcinoma.org/donate/
