On December 17, 2016, Lois Marie Swingle Pierce Cannon, 88, of Auburn, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is forever with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in 1928 in Fort Valley, Georgia, Lois was youngest daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Homer Scott and Doris Catherine Hurtt Swingle of Auburn, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her loving sister Jean Swingle Cunningham of Nashville, Tennessee, and her loving brothers Roger Swingle of Athens, Georgia, Wayne Swingle of Brandon, Florida, Hugh Swingle of Dauphin Island, Alabama, and infant brother Nunny Swingle of Auburn, Alabama. An alumni of Florida State University and Auburn University, Lois was a lifelong learner and educator. Lois was a public school teacher at Auburn Junior High School, Auburn High School, and Troup County Technical School in LaGrange, Georgia. In 1946, Lois married William Henry Pierce (deceased) of Macon County, Alabama. In 1979, she married Robert Earl Cannon (deceased) of LaGrange, Georgia. Lois was extraordinarily proud of all of her children and their families. She is survived by her six children, Nanci Kincaid (Dick Tomey), of Tuscon, Arizona, Roger Pierce (Dawn) of Auburn, Alabama, Wayne Pierce (Kim) of Denver, Colorado, Frank Pierce (Traci) of Mesa, Arizona, Paul Pierce (Marcia) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Lucy Siddle (Glenn) of Indian Springs, Alabama. Lois is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Lois will be buried at a private graveside service at Pine Hill cemetery in Auburn, Alabama on December 22, 2016.
