Lola James

Lola James passed away peacefully at her home in Marietta, Georgia, on March 8, 2023, at 71.

Lola was born in 1951, in Opelika, Alabama, to the late Bertha Kate Rodgers and Jinks Rodgers and grew up in Cusseta, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband, John James, her brother, Bobby Rodgers, and grandson, Jay Jones. Lola went to high school in Beulah, Alabama, where she graduated with honors. Mrs. James is survived by her sons, Jarrod James, of Lagrange, Georgia, and Jason James, and daughter-in-law, Jamie James of Atlanta, Georgia. Grandchildren, Hayley Jones Gilbert, Jessica Nora James, and Jenna Grace James. Siblings, Betty Glass, sisters-in-law Arlean James, Lila James, Delores Neil, Mary Ann Jeffers, Nita James, Margaret Simmons, Melba Rodgers, and brothers-in-law Anthony James and Wallace Simmons as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Mrs. James had a life centered on faith, love, and compassion. She spent five years in Atria Assisted Living and became an avid bingo player. She adored her granddaughters and relished being called "Grammy." Her final conversation with her son ended like most of her conversations in her life with "I love you." She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM CST followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM CST on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama. Interment to follow at nearby Garden Hill Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the hospice charity of your choice in her honor. Memorial services have been entrusted to Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
