Marvin Tyrie Smith, 80 of Opelika, Alabama went to be with our Heavenly Father on February 24, 2023 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab in Opelika, AL.

Marvin was born September 13, 1942 in Kent, Alabama to Marvin Thomas Smith and Patty B. Abney Smith Williams. Marvin or

M.T. as he was known for his 33 years of service at the Uniroyal Tire Plant in Opelika, AL was a hard worker who dedicated many of his years of service to the Local URW Union Hall. Marvin was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Marine Corp.

He was a graduate of Tallassee High School and The Opelika State Technical College. Mr. Marvin, as he was affectionately called by the PineKnoll neighborhood kids, would often take the friends of his 3 daughters on trips, vacations, and always to the local roller skating rinks.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin T. Smith & Patty B. Williams. Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mrs.

Judith Joann Thornton Smith and his 3 daughters, 3 son-in-laws, 5 grandchildren, 1 sister, and 2 brothers. Susan King (Mike), Debra Teague (Charlie), Joey Mayhand (Jeff), Alexandria Lewis (Greg), Abby King, Grayson Teague, Tristan Mayhand, Bethany Teague, Annie Pearl Moore (Johnny), Larkus Smith (Angie), and Darryl Smith.

Marvin was cremated and will be buried with his wife Joann Smith on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00AM CDT at Mt. Hebron Cemetery located beside Crossroads Community Church in Wetumpka, AL.
