Mary Dorothy Thrower, age 91 of Auburn, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2014 at Oak Park Nursing Home. She was born on September 26, 1922 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late W.D. and Eunice Phillips. She had lived in Opelika since 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leonard Baxter Thrower; a daughter, Florine Bryant; and two granddaughters, Julie Frazier Goree and Tammy Frazier Carpenter. She is survived by her four sons, Leonard A. Thrower (Peggy) of Lanett, Roger Thrower (Becky), Freddie Thrower (Katrina), and Terry Thrower (Lisa), all of Opelika; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Thrower was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Opelika. She truly loved the Lord and was an inspiration to all her family and friends. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
