Mavis Herring Chafin, age 89 of Beauregard, was born in Lee County on May 17, 1924 and passed away at Oak Park in Auburn on October 1, 2013. She was a former member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Chafin was preceded in death by her husband, Durward Chafin; sisters, Helen Hinson Wise and Betty Jean Wright; brothers, Lester Herring and Ray Herring; and son-in-law, Frank Horky. She is survived by her son, Ricky Chafin and his wife Cindy; daughter, Adrain Horky; grandchildren, Todd Chafin, Paige Betterton (Brandon), Joanna Cobern (Eugene), David Horky (Alisha), and Lauren Panter (Steve); five great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Ruth Cherry, Wylene Bush, and Gloria Thompson.
