Melinda Elizabeth Rogers Meals September 1, 1947- December 29, 2020 Melinda Elizabeth Rogers Meals, age 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 29, 2020, at her home in Opelika, Alabama. She passed away of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D Meals, and her parents, Frank H. Rogers, Jr. and Florene Coppedge Rogers. She is survived by her son, John Ryan Meals (Cynthia) of Opelika, Alabama; and son, Michael Alan Meals (Hailee) of Medina, Tennessee; grandchildren: Madison Ann, John David, John Jesse and James Michael Meals; and sister, Suzanne Rogers Edwards (Jim) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and many close relatives. In 1965 Melinda graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, Tennessee, and then earned both a Bachelor's degree in Education from Athens College in Athens, Alabama, and a Master's degree in Education from Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama. She was an elementary school teacher for 28 years before retiring from the Opelika City School system. She was dedicated to volunteering at the Life Savers Ministry in Opelika, AL. She loved the Lord, had a strong faith in Jesus, and loved her family. Melinda was a member of First Baptist Church Opelika, Alabama serving both as a Sunday school teacher and a faithful member. A graveside service will be held on December 31, 2020 at Garden Hill Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
