The funeral services for Peggy Bibby Hurst of Opelika, Alabama will be at 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:15 pm at Frederick-Dean. Peggy was born in LaFayette, Alabama on April 25, 1937, and passed away at East Alabama Medical Center on January 9, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Robert Hurst, and her son-in-law, Hans W. Thiele. She is survived by her son, James B. Hurst (Corinne) of Opelika, her daughter, Susan H. Thiele, of Alpharetta, GA.; two grandchildren, James B. Hurst, Jr. of New York, and Ashley H. Underwood (Phil) of Opelika; and two great grandchildren, Phillip Michael Underwood, III and Turner Hurst Underwood, of Opelika. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and had a passion for loving and caring for others. She enjoyed serving others by welcoming them into her home with a southern home-cooked meal. She provided a listening ear to many that she knew and always had bright smile on her face. She had an enormous heart for children and her family was her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the BigHouse Foundation in Opelika, P.O.
