Philip Leslie Fretwell, Ph.D

July 17, 1939 - August 21, 2023

Philip Leslie Fretwell passed away at his residence on August 21, 2023. He was 84 years old.

Philip was a member of Auburn First Presbyterian Church, he was also a member of the AIA / American Institute of Architects(AIA.org). Philip had a Ph.D in Architecture and was a professor at Auburn and Troy. Philip served as the building Commissioner of Alabama in the early 80's. Philip specialized in, Development, Surveying, and Architecture.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erline and James Fretwell. Brothers, Larry and Jerry Fretwell. Sister, Ramona Gail Fretwell.

He is survived by his children, Dawn Fretwell Duckhorn (Paul), Paige Clark (Lindsay), Matthew Fretwell, grandchildren; Heather, Jesse, Jason and Marie, two great-grandchildren; Bella and Noah and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
