Philip Wayne Porter 1949 - 2021 Philip Wayne Porter passed away at his home in Dacula, Georgia on August 17, 2021. He was 72 years old. Mr. Porter grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, graduating from Seventy-First High School in 1967. After college, his career with Bell South spanned over 37 years and carried him to assignments in North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, and Georgia. Mr. Porter was a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and he loved to share his faith with others. Whether teaching Sunday school or serving as a deacon or an elder, he was active in churches throughout his life. Born to the late Elsie Morrison Porter and Walter Wayne Porter in Sanford, North Carolina, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Debra Ann Porter Suggs. He is survived by Gwen Story Porter, his wife of 51 years. Together they have three children: Molly Elizabeth Powell (Nicholas), Amanda Kate Johnson (Christopher), and William Yates Porter; His five grandchildren, (Audrey, Owen, Henry, Ethan, and Emma) were especially loved by their "Papa". He delighted in teaching them to fish from the shore at Holden Beach, North Carolina, where he loved to take vacations. He is also survived by his sister, Myra Porter Humphrey of Lumberton, North Carolina. He was beloved by his family and his many friends. His easy smile and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him. There will be a graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery in Salem, Alabama on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church, 5918 Spalding Dr. Peachtree Corners, GA. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.
