A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Richard Otto Sasser, 66, of Columbus, Georgia died at his home on December 1, 2013. He was born July 23, 1947 in Opelika, Alabama, to the late Clifford Otto and Nancy Renn Sasser. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years and was a member of Cascade Hills Church in Columbus, Georgia. Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sons, Scott Sasser (Jeanna), Rikki Sasser, and Oliver Sasser (Shawn); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Susan Sasser Cherry (Henry) and Virginia Peebles (Chris); brothers, Steve Sasser (the late Winnie M Sasser); Daniel Tucker (Charlotte), William Tucker (Judy), and the late James Tucker (Cynthia); nieces, Tina Hallmark, Amy Sorrells, and Kim Koon; nephew, Brian Koon; a very special cousin who was like a brother to Richard, Craig Mangram (Linda); and a host of cousins and other family members. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from Noon until 1:30 pm CST in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm CST at Rosemere Cemetery, Opelika, Alabama with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating.
