Obituary

ROLAND WAYNE (RON) JORDAN

9/18/1946 - 11/23/2022

Roland Wayne (Ron) Jordan of Opelika passed away in Auburn on 11-23-2022, following a brief illness. He is survived by his mother, Lucille Jordan of Valley, AL wife Bessie (BJ) Jordan of Opelika, two sons Shane and Austin (wife Leah) Jordan both of Spanish Fort, and daughter Rachel Getman of Opelika. In addition, Mr. Jordan leaves behind four grandchildren: Kaiser, Krosby, Anberlyn and Adeline Jordan.

Born 9/18/1946 in Selma to Roland and Lucille Jordan, Ron served the US Armed Forces overseas in Pakistan during the Vietnam Era. Ron loved sports (particularly football, golfing, fishing and NASCAR). His lifelong passion for music and ham radios led Ron into radio broadcasting. In 1987, Ron accepted employment with Fuller Broadcasting, moved to Opelika to become a disc jockey/broadcast specialist at 97.7 KICKR-FM for many years. Because of his rich baritone voice and engaging radio personality, his friends nicknamed him "RJ the DJ". He may be remembered as such by members of the Opelika/Auburn community.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, 1801 Fredericks Road, Opelika Saturday, Dec 3rd at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.

Frederick-Dean Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements.
