Mrs. Rosa L. Brown, 85, of Salem, was born on October 19, 1928, to the late Edward T. and Bessie Barnes, and passed away on January 11, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Brown, her grandson, Allen Edwards, and her three brothers, Ed, Jim, and Cleve Barnes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who focused her life on her family. She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church which she truly loved. She is survived by her son, Harold Stringfellow; her daughters, Anne Yarbrough (Terry), and Pam Awbrey; her grandchildren, Heather McIlheny, (Jeff), Summer Owsley (Jerome), Chrystal Champion (David), Tommy Awbrey (Cari), Emily Fields (Trey), and Kathi Pierce (Adam); 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Austin; a special niece, Christy Dunn; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Frederick Dean Funeral Home with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemere Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM in the parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations to the Building Fund at Providence Baptist Church.
