Rose Turee Thomas

October 22, 1960- October 16, 2022

Rose Turee Thomas, 61, of Opelika, Alabama, passed away on October 16, 2022, at the

Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, after a long battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was a loving

wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was born October 22, 1960, at the Wheeler Clinic in LaFayette, Alabama to George

Dewey Wooddy and Gracie Wooddy (Bone). Turee is preceded in death by her son, Matthew

Thomas, and her father, George Dewey Wooddy. She is survived by her husband, Butch Thomas

of Opelika Alabama, grandson Javian Thomas of Opelika, Alabama, her mother Gracie Wooddy

of LaFayette, Alabama, sisters Debra Beckwith (Campbell) of LaFayette, Alabama, Twyla Arthur

of Opelika, Alabama, Ashley Oliver (Steve) of LaFayette, Alabama, and several nieces and

nephews. She also leaves behind a dog and three cats she dearly loved.

Turee worked in manufacturing most of her life, having been employed with Diversified

products 10 years and Uniroyal for 19 years until the plant closed. She was a member of

Antioch Baptist Church in LaFayette, Alabama where she grew up and came to know Jesus as

her Lord and savior. She was an avid Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Falcons football fan. She also

enjoyed traveling with her sister Twyla.

A graveside service has been planned for Friday, October 21, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the

Garden Hill Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama.
