Russell "Rusty" Dwain Bird
1964-2023
Russell "Rusty" Dwain Bird, beloved son, big brother and friend, died Monday September 11th after a long struggle with several illnesses. He was at his much-loved home on Lake Harding with his family. Rusty was 58.
Born in Atlanta, Rusty kept his parents on their toes from the day he was born - December 17, 1964.
He spent most of his career in the woods, clearing rights of ways for Georgia Power, Asplundh, Davey Tree Co and more.
Rusty was quick to lend a helping hand and was often a welcomed sight after natural disasters, chainsaw-in-hand, helping to restore power and order to those affected. Rusty was a slayer of trees and limbs, weeds and pests and loved few things more than a good drink, making people laugh, a fire (and flaming arrows) and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dwain Bird and survived by his wonderfully loving and devoted mother, June Bird (Lanier) and his "baby sister" Rena (Suzanne) Wynn.
While the family isn't asking for anyone to do so, if you feel so led, please make a donation to Paws Human Society in Columbus, GA in lieu of any flowers.

While there will be no formal ceremony (he'd hate it!) close friends and family will soon be invited to the lake to share stories and love with his family.
