Sherley Rae "Sue" Marnell, age 93, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Nursing Home in Auburn, Alabama on June 12, 2011. Mrs. Marnell was born in Richardson, Kentucky on March 11, 1918 to the late John and Theodosia Wells. She grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky and graduated from Bowling Green Business College before moving to Washington, DC where she met John Marnell. They were married from October 10, 1941 until his death on August 15, 1998.
Mrs. Marnell was an active parent and served as a Girl Scout Leader and Junior Bowling coach. She developed a love for bridge and became a Gold Life Master.
Mrs. Marnell was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and her husband of 56 years.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Ginny) Marnell of New York, NY; daughters, Susan (Doug) Weaver of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Janet (Mike) Morehouse of Opelika, Alabama, and Irene (Tom Guaschino) Marnell of East Vincent Township, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
