Steven Sims Kennedy, age 56 of Wetumpka, Alabama, was born in Griffin, Georgia May 18, 1956 and passed away July 10, 2012 at his home. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his parents, Wendell and Barbara Kennedy; sister, Dianne Jay and husband Bill; brother, Wade Kennedy and wife Susan; nephews, Gavin Yates and wife Amanda, Patrick Yates, Daniel Kennedy, and Tyler Kennedy; great nephew, Slade Yates; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members. Mr. Kennedy retired from the State of Alabama as Deputy Director of EMS and was currently employed by the City of Montgomery as a Grant Accountant. He began his education at Beauregard Elementary School and completed high school at Scott Preparatory School in Opelika. Following high school, he received a B.S. from Troy State University and then a Masters degree from Auburn University at Montgomery in Public Administration. Mr. Kennedy was a loving son, wonderful brother and dear friend. He was well known for his sense of humor and was an avid golfer. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Providence Baptist Church Building Fund. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Fredericks Funeral Home.
