Sue Smith Bankston was born in Bunkie, LA to the late Lt. Col. John L. and Elaine Smith and passed away in Auburn, AL on October 14, 2013. She served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross East Alabama Chapter for many years. She was a Master Gardener and a member of the Retired Military Officers Association and Military Officers Wives Distaff Club. Mrs. Bankston was preceded in death by her husband CDR Victor J. Bankston and brother, Carl Smith. She is survived by her daughters Ashley Bankston and Brandy Tarbert; son-in-law Chris Tarbert; grandsons Connor and Cayden Tarbert; sister Janice Hundley; brother Kenneth Smith and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial messages may be left for the family at http://www.frederickdean.com/.
