Suzanne Jennifer Winslett daughter, sister, animal-lover and friend left this world on Saturday, October 15th, 2016, at 34 years old.
Suzanne was born to Colleen and Tony Winslett in Clearwater, FL on January 30, 1982. They moved to Opelika, AL in 1994. She graduated from Beauregard High School, Class of 2000. She was a self-proclaimed band nerd as a member of the Color Guard and never backed down from a healthy debate. She always had an opinion but valued and respected others as well. She loved nature, hiking, camping and a good Diet Coke (or 3).
She worked for Kroger during high school where she made life-long friends, then Home Depot. While working in the lab at EAMC, her passion to help people thrived. In recent years, she worked for Kia Motors in West Point, GA.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her brother Anthony Winslett (Christina Clayton), her fur babies (Goku, Jinx, and Jamie) and countless friends.
While Suzannes time here on Earth was brief, she has made a lasting impact on so many. She was strong, determined and passionate (with a dash of stubborn on the side).
Unfortunately, she has been battling depression. While she lost her battle, she would want no one else to suffer the same fate. If anything positive can come of this tragedy it would be to spread awareness of depression, mental-illness and suicide prevention.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Semicolon Project (www.semicolonproject.org) or "To Write Love On Her Arms" (www.twloha.com) in her honor. Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m., Friday, October 21st, 2016, at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika, AL with a memorial service at 6 p.m.
