Verna Davis Broach, 89, was born on September 23, 1924 to the late Samuel J. and Ola Davis. She passed away on June 26, 2014 at Bethany House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Broach and son, Dennis Broach, and great-grandson, Tyler Alley. She was a faithful member of Purpose Baptist Church and an avid daylily gardener. Mrs. Broach is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Ray (Tommy) of Opelika, AL; five sons, R. Wayne Broach (Gail) of Auburn, AL; Gary Broach (JoAnn) of Opelika, AL; Phil Broach (Marsha) of Opelika, AL; Keith Broach (Kay) of Collierville, TN; and Eric Broach of Opelika, AL; daughter-in-law, Judy B. Broach of Wetumpka, AL; 10 grandchildren, Wendy Grantham of Crestview, FL; Susan B. Wilson (Todd) of Opelika, AL; Robin Ray Harrelson (Billy) of Opelika, AL; Stephanie Garner (Dave) of Wetumpka, AL; Amy B. Williams of Homewood, AL; Kevin Broach of Phenix City, AL; Cory Ray (Amy) of Opelika, AL; Adam Broach of Notasulga, AL; Andy Lumpkin of Notasulga, AL; and Emily Broach of Collierville, TN ; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Flossie Maddox of Woodland, AL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 1:45-2:45 PM in the parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Grantham officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Kevin Broach, Adam Broach, Cory Ray, Billy Harrelson, Todd Wilson, and Blake Cooper will all serve as her pallbearers. Jerry Shorter will serve as her special honorary pallbearer, as well as members of the "Women of Faith" Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany House or Purpose Baptist Church.
