Walter Bill Haywood, Sr., of Opelika, was born on August 19, 1937 in Society Hill, Alabama and died on March 5, 2012 at Bethany House in Auburn. He was 74 years old. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Haywood was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bessie Fay Gossett and Jessey Carson Legear; and his wife, Mary Ellen Kenney Haywood. He is survived by his daughter, Malinda Johnson; son, Walter Bill Haywood, Jr. and wife Lisa; daughter, Anna Marlene Powell and husband Wes; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters and many friends.
