Warren Nelson Ward 1945-2022 MSGT (Ret.) Warren Nelson Ward of Salem, Alabama was born at his home in East Townsend, Ohio to the late Warren Ward and Marjorie Bailey on August 15, 1945 and passed away at East Alabama Medical Center surrounded by family on July 8, 2022. He was 76 years old. Nelson was affectionately known for his dedication as a 22 year Veteran of the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1965 where he spent time in Vietnam, Thailand, Libya, Montgomery, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Spangdalem, Germany, Rome, New York, and retiring to Montgomery, Alabama. He continued his career as a 20 year State Employee with the Department of Transportation. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Jackie Delano Ward. He is survived by his children, Marty (Michele) Kenney of Milton, FL., Marc (Kim) Kenney of Gainesville, Georgia, Marcie (James) Cavaliero of Opelika, AL., David (Melissa) Ward of Montgomery, Alabama, and Nicole (Luis) Colon of Montgomery, Alabama; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Cornelia "Connie" (Larry) Giesecke; brother-in-laws, Bill (Shirley) Herring, Victor Fulmer; sister-in-law, Diane (Charles) Lee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Friday, July 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
