William Edward Kilman III, known to his loved ones as Eddy, passed away on November 8, 2023, at the age of 66 in Alexander City, Alabama. Eddy was born on November 26, 1956 in DeRidder, LA. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Eddy was an active member of Trinity Methodist Church in Opelika, Alabama, where he worshiped and shared his faith with others. He had a deep love for his church and participated in numerous mission trips to Mexico, spreading his devotion to Christianity.

Eddy leaves behind his beloved wife, Brenda Kilman, who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his daughter, Angela Thomas, and her husband, David Thomas, as well as his grandchildren, Ethan and Lillian Thomas. Eddy's father, William Edward Kilman Jr., and his sisters, Kristy Kilman Pavlas, Kerry Kilman Stanton, and Cathy Kilman DeWitt, along with their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews, also mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Elizabeth Harper Kilman.

Eddy graduated from Leesville High School in Leesville, LA, in the class of 1974. He was an active member of the marching band, playing the trombone. He furthered his education at Louisiana Tech University, where he was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Eddy graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Throughout his career, Eddy showcased his exceptional leadership skills and dedication. Eddy's career spanned 41 years, during which he became a highly respected leader in the insurance industry. His exceptional skills and unwavering dedication were evident throughout his work. Eddy initially served as a producer at J. Smith Lanier in their Johns Creek office before venturing into the heavy equipment industry with Caterpillar Insurance Services Corporation. In 2001, he returned to J. Smith Lanier now Marsh McLennan Agency as the esteemed Managing Director of the Opelika, Alabama office. Eddy played a pivotal role in the development and formation of Valley Indemnity Ltd in 2005, a group captive that garnered widespread recognition and included eight Caterpillar equipment dealer members.

In his spare time, Eddy enjoyed indulging in his hobbies. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. He had a deep love for travel and explored various places worldwide.

A visitation will be held on December 9, 2023, at 9:30 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am at Trinity Methodist Church in Opelika, AL 36801. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Frederick Dean Funeral Home.
