William Jessie Wood, Sr. April 7, 1936 - July 21, 2022 William "Jessie" Wood, Sr. of Pine Mountain, Georgia was born to the late Ocie L. and Minnie Howard Wood on April 7, 1936 and passed away on July 21, 2022. He was 86 years old. Jessie served in the United States Army from November of 1958 to November of 1960. He was a machinist for Lockheed Martin. He changed careers and became a superintendent of construction over most notably Disney World in Orlando, Florida; the Florida Capitol Building in Tallahassee, Florida; the Marta Transit stations in Atlanta, Georgia; and Overlook 1 and 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. He retired as the Gwinnett Commercial Building inspector in April of 1996. Jessie is survived by his wife, Jerri Wood; children, Jessie Wood (Dee), Jimmy Wood (Ramona), and Jerra Sanders; grandchildren, Alyssa Johnson (Kurt), Jesse Wood (Anna), Ellina Wood, Kenny Thomas, Cooper Thomas, Jim Wood Jr., Jeff Wood (Bailey), Tenishia Sylvester, Derek Sylvester, Tonya Nelson (Anthony) and Christopher Sanders; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Julian Wood (Frances), Clifford Wood (Betty); sisters, Elven Rudd and Mary Joyce Stevison (Jerry); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Central Time.
