Colon Hillyer Ennis, age 91, of Opelika, was born on February 20, 1921 in Lee County, Alabama, and died on December 28, 2012 at Oak Park in Auburn. She was a faithful lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Ennis is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Harry S. Ennis and her parents, S.A. and Onie Hillyer. Mrs. Ennis is survived by her son, Houston Ennis and wife Dianna; her daughter, Donita Poe and her husband Wayne; four grandchildren, Pennie(Mike)Spates, John-Mark(Christine)Poe, Vickie(Tony)Pyles, Bradley(Carmon)Ennis; five great grandchildren, Jeremy Pyles, Graham Ennis, Michael Poe, Hallie Ennis, and Hayden Pyles; two sisters, Ouida(George) Kelton and Macie Gardner; two sisters-in-law, Frances Hillyer and Ethel Story; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
